Oh, Fall, how I love you so! I know I’m not the only one when I say that Fall fashion is my absolute favorite fashion season of the year. Typically by the time Fall rolls around, I am BEYOND ready to get more experimental with the styles I wear (hello, trends!) and I am especially excited to start wearing more than one article of clothing again (goodbye dresses, hello layering)! I am especially excited to share with you the Fall 2021 fashion trends this year because this Fall to me truly feels like the first time are able to mostly get back to life as normal here in the US. This season’s trends are fun and experimental, but still totally wearable!
Be sure to check out my YouTube video below, which covers the Fall 2021 fashion trends in more detail.
Western Fashion
Yee? Haw. Western fashion is back, baby. But honestly, did it ever really go away? In my opinion “western” or “cowboy” clothing and accessory styles will always be on trend, so it is kind of a classic in my eyes. However, if we went to be specific for Fall 2021 fashion trends, look for fringe jackets, modern takes on a the cowboy hat, and some classic, tall cowboy boots. If you don’t know where to start, I would recommend checking out the WonderWest line by Boot Barn.
Chunky Knits
Chunky knits? For Fall? Groundbreaking. But seriously, I feel like out of every Fall out of the past few years, this season’s chunky knits look BY FAR the most comfortable. If I had to guess, it’s because brands know that many of us are still spending a lot of time at home, and we as consumers value comfort over everything these days. Check out my top picks below.
Sweater Vests
I would be seriously remiss if I didn’t mention sweater vests in this Fall 2021 trends roundup. Ah, the sweater vest. You either love them or hate them. For me, this is one of those trends where I personally do not own it myself, but I LOVE it on other people. Let me know what you think of them in the comments below!
Animal Print
In my humble opinion that no one asked for, Fall is the BEST time of year to incorporate animal print into your outfits. The warmer and neutral tones that are synonymous with Fall fashion look *chef’s kiss* paired with a more statement animal print piece. If we want to get specific about what animal print pieces are most in line with Fall 2021 fashion trends, leopard coats have been all over the runways and social media lately. I honestly consider them a classic!
Printed Tights
My sources (AKA me, just guessing) have told me that the revival of printed tights can be attributed to the recent reboot of the hit TV show Gossip Girl. Even a casual viewer of the original series can confirm that fun, printed tights were a staple accessory for our favorite Upper-East-Sider teenagers. They are without a doubt a practical addition to any cold-weather wardrobe, and an easy way to take a more understated look up a notch.
Sparkles
In the words of one Jessica Day from the hit TV show New Girl, “And yes, I HAVE touched glitter in the last 24 hours!” Considering that Fall is the start of holiday party season, it is only appropriate that we should start thinking about getting our sparkle on. Every single AW21 runway breakdown I watched and every Fall 2021 Fashion Trends article I read all came to the same agreement – brands and consumers are excited to make fashion fun again after wearing the same 3 outfits throughout all of 2020. Sparkles are the perfect solution.
Feathers
If I am going to be completely honest with you, feathers are another trend that I love on others, but that I don’t really go for myself. I think that they look absolutely incredible, and I am sure that one day I will find a feather piece that absolutely blows me away and that I just NEED to add to my collection. In the meantime, I will have fun adding pieces like the ones below to my cart but never checking out.
Colored Leather
Last but certainly not least, we have a trend that if I am being fully transparent here, I used to HATE. I don’t just mean dislike, I mean LOATHE. That was until late 2020, when the richest chocolate brown leather coats suddenly became a staple in every single Instagram-cool-girl’s wardrobe. They even look absolutely delicious. I fell even more head over heels for this trend when I was sent some beautiful Seven7 rust-colored faux leather pants, linked below. Paired with an otherwise all-black look, they make me feel like a million bucks.
